Some Knitting

Some Knitting

Again, it's hard to know where to begin! 2021 certainly isn't off to the start any of us hoped for is it? Big sigh... Since I don't have any profound thoughts at the moment, I'll focus on knitting.
My knitting plans seem to change daily and the above is the start of a No Frills Sweater from PetiteKnit.  I really wanted to try Drops Sky and boy is it gorgeous. I don't have a lot of experience with chained yarn like this, but the mix of alpaca, nylon and merino is super soft and knits up into a squishy gorgeous fabric. I was happily knitting away when I realized I had messed up my raglan increases so they were an inconsistent mess... the lapse of concentration is a bit par for the course these days. So I'm frogging this and I've decided that since I love the yarn so much I'll wait until I can bring in more colours and re-start this project in a colour that I'd wear. This brown, I think it's called Chestnut, is truly rich and beautiful, but it's just not me. If I remember correctly the distributor is expecting a shipment in February so I'll be tracking that.

I did finish a pair of socks over the holidays and they were a joy to knit. The pattern is the Monkey Socks from Cookie A. The pattern was originally published in 2008! The yarn is an 85% merino 15% nylon blend that I dyed... I really love the colour, so I'll have to try to recreate it because of course I can't find my notes about what it is. I usually make plain vanilla socks, but I really enjoyed this pattern which was a perfect blend of engaging yet easy to memorize.
I'm not sure how the days are going to unfold as we move through the current stay at home order. I have to admit that I've not had as productive a beginning to the year as I'd planned, but I'm just going to take things day by day. I've decided not to offer any Curbside Pick up, as I want to support the idea that those who can do so, should just stay home. Instead, I'll be offering local delivery here in London which I'll do once a week.
So that's my knitting news for the week. One of my hopes for the year is to up my Ravelry game... I'm absolutely terrible about listing projects and keeping things updated, so I need to turn that ship around. I don't really believe in resolutions, as they usually just lead to disappointment, but this is something I should be able to commit to.
Take good care everyone, and happy knitting.
