Knit Stitch Spring Knitalong 2022

Knit Stitch Spring Knitalong 2022

I really love the current cozy shop space, but one of the trade-offs has definitely been not being able to host regular stitch nights or classes. That sense of community was really special, and I think as we emerge from the last two years and the warm weather arrives, it's time to try to find a little slice of that again!

The delightful Louise Patterson and I have concocted a very loose knit along plan which will unfold in a couple of different ways. We're planning to start a weekly get together to knit on the Wortley Village Green starting Wednesday May 25. Bring your lawn chair and your knitting and we'll gather at the south west corner of the Green from 5pm to 7ish or however long people feel like staying... and feel free to bring whatever you're working, this won't be limited to people following the knit along.

For the Knit Along, you can pick whichever shawl pattern you'd like and whatever yarn you'd like (ideally purchased at Knit Stitch), and we'll set a finishing date of June 29. The idea is to play with a bit of colour.. colour blocks, stranded colourwork or fading... whatever catches your fancy!

As usual, I've changed my mind countless times about what I want to make, but I've settled on a simple linen stitch scarf following the formula of this Mini Mania Scarf and my base will be a Day 1 Mini Sock Fade Set from Lichen and Lace, augmented by a few old Madelinetosh Unicorn Tails from the dark regions of my stash. I really like the idea of having practically no pattern to follow which should make it easy to pick up and put down.

The hashtag #knitstitchspringkal2022 is ready on Instagram for you to use to tag your pictures and progress. On June 29 we'll randomly choose an entry from the feed and the lucky maker will get a $50 gift card to the shop. If you're not on Instagram and would still like to knit along with us, just email me a picture of your shawl and Louise and I will create an entry for  the draw for you.

Get in touch if you'd like help choosing a pattern or if you have any questions. I think this is going to be fun!
